I tried singing “polly wolly doodle” all day like the song says.
Let me tell you, three or four hours of singing that song is plenty. Singing polly wolly doodle ALL the day get pretty old pretty quick.
I even got kicked out of the library too because of it. I wrote the librarian a little note explaining that what I was doing was an experiment and I wasn’t just a crazy guy, but they didn’t listen. Now I’m hoarse and my throat hurts and I don’t even know all the words , so I had to hum most of it, so It was more like “I went down south to see my gal singing Polly Wolly Doodle all the day mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm fair the well, fair the well my mmmm mmmm mmm going to Louisiana mmmm see my polly anna mmmm Polly Wolly Doodle all the day mmmm mmmm”.
It’s a shame the guy who wrote the song lived in an age before they had medicine for OCD. With the help of modern medicine he might have been able to stop singing and lead what would pass for a normal life.
