Experiment for science

July 6, 2009

Every so often I like to try little social experiments.   Like one time I had every other tooth whitened to see how long it would take before anyone noticed.  (Longer than you would think).

Anyway, in that spirit I made this ad because I wanted to see how many people would actually click on something like this. I put it on some cheapo web pages.  It cost me about ten bucks to see how many people would want to see this:

boyle rec

The answer: Thousands and thousands. Enough to fill a baseball stadium in just about a month.

There are a lot of sad parts to this, but part  of the sadness  is finding out that so many more people (about 15 times  more) want to see an ugly, fat, old woman have sex than would normally want to read my webpage.

That’s pretty insulting no matter how you look at it.

Hate to skew your statistics, but I clicked on it because I thought it was a good joke.

Yeah that add was how i discovered your blog.

I was sure that there wasn’t a Susan Boyle sex tape but for weeks i didn’t click it. then my one of my dorm mates saw it and clicked it for me despite me telling him not to :P

    i’m glad he did lol

I actually found you through a similar ‘ad’ posted on one of the webcomics I read…it was just quirky enough that it fit that particular comic’s humor (Something Positive) and looked clearly photoshopped, and hell, the picture was of like, 70′s Disney, but it was enough of a ‘wait, what?’ that I clicked it. Half the time this leads me to things that make me want to bleach my eyes, but occasionally it leads to something like this!

I read through your archives and bookmarked you, now. XD

lol, I think you clicked on the same Disney ad that I did. I saw it on a webcomic as well, though at this point I can’t remember which one. I found myself laughing so much that I went back through weeks worth of archives and finally bookmarked it. Love the blog!
